WB Weekly Update: 5 Tips for Getting Things Done Before the Deadline

I’ve been reassessing this past week & have begun to realize that I can’t keep working at my present pace.

I’ve been working with incredible efficiency, scheduling everything back to back for 4 months now.

Juggling the blogs, preparing for a book launch, managing a very busy household & being an extremely active, hands-on mommy to my twin toddlers.

Not to mention, I’m still catching up on the remaining loose ends from my 4 1/2 month hospital stay last year w/ my twin pregnancy and the boys’ stays in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) in Dallas.

I came to the realization that something was very wrong when one morning this week I woke up and realized that I suddenly found it difficult to think. There were just SO many thoughts in my head. Way too many to process.

Every time I tried to form a thought, I felt as though my brain was hitting a wall. And it was painful.

What is without periods of rest will not endure.” – Ovid

For the first four months, it felt GREAT to push myself to the limit.

And beyond.

The more I saw the blogs grow, the more excited I became and the more I began to work over my allotted 15 hours a week.

It was as though I were running a race.

And some of the things in my life began to suffer.

Like my sanity.

So, I’m reassessing and deciding how I want to go forward with everything in the coming weeks. I need to use my time to work on my book launch and write more… and care about stuff like SOCIAL MEDIA less.

At least for the meantime.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m very happy with where I am right now. It’s just that I’ve realized that I NEED to slow down, re-evaluate, re-focus… and take many more breaks.

Productivity is important for writers. But it’s certainly not everything.

As always, I hope that your own writing journeys are going smoothly & that this week you find yourself closer to achieving your dreams.

Enjoy! :)
